Twitter Inc, Facebook Inc and Snap Inc temporarily locked the accounts of United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday, as tech giants scrambled to crack down on his baseless claims about the US presidential election amid riots in the capital.
Twitter hid and mandated the removal of three of Trump’s tweets “as a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, DC,” after pro-Trump protesters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to force Congress to block the appointment of President-elect Joe Biden.

Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg says they believe the risks of allowing Trump to continue to use their service during this period are simply too great so they are extending the block they have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete

Facebook will block President Donald Trump on its platforms, including Instagram, at least until the end of his term, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said in a post on Thursday.
