Haldimand-Norfolk Board of Health has met with Ontario’s with Chief Medical Officer of Health and they have retained legal counsel.
In a release to the media, it says while the nature of the meeting is confidential, the BOH wanted the community to know that a number of recent concerns were brought forward.
Norfolk Mayor, and Board Of Health Chair, Kristal Chopp discussed the board’s desire to speak to the Chief Medical Officer Of Health during a rally last week that saw over 200 farmers gather to show their objection to section 22 orders put in place by our local Medical Officer Of Health Dr. Shanker Nesathurai.
Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Ontario's associate chief medical officer of health, stressed that as variants of concern continue to spread in the province, the public needs to continue to diligently follow the public health measures in place.
"This is not the time to get complacent," Dr. Yaffe said. "I am strongly urging everybody to please continue to stay at home and limit non-essential trips, and continue to adhere to pubic health measures."
TORONTO An Ontario cabinet minister is acknowledging that the government s pandemic pleas are falling on deaf ears due to COVID-19 fatigue and cautioned that the length of the lockdown will depend on adherence to the public health protocols. Michael Tibollo, the minister responsible for mental health, said that despite the challenges, the current second wave lockdown is a necessary step in trying to reduce transmission rates. Despite several regions of the province being in lockdown since late-November, Tibollo says Ontario is only at the very beginning of seeing a change and conceded that the province s stay-at-home orders may not be having maximum effect.
