Hotels offer financial enticement for employees to get vaccinated

With health authorities appealing to employees in the hotel and hospitality sectors to urgently get the COVID-19 vaccine, at least two local properties have decided to offer cash to get the attention of their staff.
But the decision by management of Coral Reef Club and sister hotel The Sandpiper to give their 350 members of staff a financial nudge to take the vaccine, has resulted in mixed reactions from some sections of the public, the trade union movement and senior health officials.
In a memorandum dated June 6, 2021, directors of Coral Reef Club informed its employees that the company was offering two workers a chance to win a grand prize of $500 in a raffle draw that takes place on July 5.

Public health officials are hoping systems at Grantley Adams International Airport will run smoother the rest of the week, after Government’s newest COVID-19 protocols created a chaotic situation on Saturday.
It was the first day of the protocols which allow fully vaccinated travellers to be tested within a 24-hour period and be permitted to freely move around the country once their vaccination certification was legitimate.
The system had its issues, however, with people having to wait in line for two and a half hours in some instances, as public health officials asked questions, garnered travel information and did their due diligence to accommodate those who needed COVID-19 testing on arrival.

Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic did not mince words yesterday, as he urged members of a northern church to stop dodging public health officials who are conducting contact tracing into a cluster of COVID-19 cases.
He said public health officials had been hamstrung this week as they attempted to find people associated with the church.
Earlier this week in a story broken by the
Midweek Nation, it was revealed that 19 members of the World Harvest Ministries International Church, based in Speightstown, St Peter, had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. That number has since increased.
