Italy and Austria among countries removed from mandatory hotel quarantine list as two more added

ITALY and Austria are among the latest countries that have been removed from Ireland s mandatory quarantine list tonight.
Passengers arriving from Armenia, Aruba, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Curaçao, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, North Macedonia and Ukraine also no longer have to stay at a designated hotel.

Nepal and Anguilla are to be added to the list.
People who have transited through the countries must also book their stay at a hotel.

HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE confirmed that a further three people have died with Covid-19 in Ireland.
Additionally, 474 more cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, according to the latest figures from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The total number of Covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the virus here last year now stands at 248,326.
The number of people who have died has reached 4,889.
Of the case notified today, 239 are men while 232 are women. 71% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 32-years-old.
By county Dublin has 167 new cases, 39 are in Kildare, 37 in Cork, 36 in Donegal, 29 in Meath and the remaining 166 cases are spread across all other counties.

Niac expected to recommend Johnson & Johnson jab for over 50s
As of 8am today, there are 184 coronavirus patients in hospital, of which 46 are in ICU.
The single-shot Covid-19 jab was expected to play a major role in the Irish vaccine roll-out and was heralded as a game changer by Taoiseach Micheál Martin back in February.

The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) is expected to recommend the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for those aged 50 and over in Ireland.
However, it is understood Niac also said the jab can be used on younger cohorts where an alternative vaccine is not available.
Latest COVID-19 figures one year on from the first reported case in Ireland
Just shy of a year since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Ireland, the Department of Health has released the latest figures.
A further 13 people have died with the virus, bringing the death toll in the Republic of Ireland to 4,313.
The Department of Health also report 738 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The total number of cases reported in the Republic of Ireland now stands at 218,980.
