Dr Glynn added that the virus is much more transmissible than during the first wave of the virus last year, and urged people to limit their social contact in the coming weeks. All of this means that we can be hopeful of a return to better and more normal times, Dr Glynn said. However, while significant progress is being made in controlling the disease and in rolling out vaccines, we still have a high level of infection, we are dealing with a much more transmissible virus than last year, and the absolute number of people fully protected through vaccination remains low.
