IRELAND S Covid-19 vaccine rollout has suffered a new blow after the AstraZeneca jab was temporarily shelved due to reports of serious blood clotting .
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn announced that following discussions by the HPRA and National Immunisation Advisory Committee yesterday, the administration of the AstraZeneca jab in Ireland would be brought to a sudden halt.

The decision was made after four new reports of serious blood clotting in young adults following administration of the jab in Norway.
However, Dr Glynn said that it has not been concluded that there is any link between the AstraZeneca vaccine in these cases but that the NIAC made the recommendation as a precautionary principal .

PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS this evening confirmed a further 592 cases of Covid-19 and 10 additional deaths in Ireland.
This evening’s figures mean that there has now been a total of 225,179 cases of Covid-19 in Ireland, along with 4,509 deaths.
