Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn announced that following discussions by the HPRA and National Immunisation Advisory Committee yesterday, the administration of the AstraZeneca jab in Ireland would be brought to a sudden halt. 3 3 3 Chair of the National Immunisation Advisory Committee Professor Karina Butler The decision was made after four new reports of serious blood clotting in young adults following administration of the jab in Norway. However, Dr Glynn said that it has not been concluded that there is any link between the AstraZeneca vaccine in these cases but that the NIAC made the recommendation as a precautionary principal .
