The Joint Committee on Health is expected to discuss the pressure Covid-19 is putting on the health system as well as other non-Covid patient care issues.

Source: Covid-19 Data Hub THERE ARE NOW 1,846 people with Covid-19 in hospital and 173 people in ICU.  HSE CEO Paul Reid said that “unfortunately” the hospital numbers continue to rise. Hospitalisation figures have more than tripled since the start of the month. “People are extremely sick with this virus. Despite some hopeful trends on transmission levels, it’s still hugely prevalent in your area. Please stick with us,” Reid said.  133 people were admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours and 105 people were discharged.

Coronavirus: NPHET warns of significant number of deaths to come

LMFM By Ruth O Connell The Dundalk South LEA continues to have one of the highest 14 day incidence rates in the country NPHET says there will be a significant number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in the days and weeks ahead. A further 28 deaths were confirmed last night, bringing the total this month to 208 - and some of those who ve died have been as young as 25. Health officials also reported 3,955 new cases - including 235 in Louth and 221 in Meath, and nearly as many people have tested positive in the last two weeks as in all of 2020.
