Tennessee nursing homes receive COVID-19 vaccine

Long-term care facility residents and workers are in the state s highest category for vaccine distribution. Author: Yvonne Thomas, WBIR Staff Published: 5:51 AM EST December 28, 2020 Updated: 5:47 PM EST December 28, 2020 TENNESSEE, USA On Monday, nursing homes in Tennessee will begin to receive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. CVS will start administering the vaccine in long-term care facilities across the state.  One of the main reasons retail pharmacies are playing such a crucial role in the vaccine rollout is accessibility.  We re convenient. We re everywhere and where we re not. We can do other types of clinics to reach people, said CVS Health Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Tony Brennan. We have the best chance of reaching the public and the public likes that approach because it is convenient and they trust us. And I think we ve earned that trust.

Ireland set for Level 5 Covid restrictions after Christmas

IRELAND could be set for new Level 5 coronavirus restrictions to control the spread of the pandemic after Christmas on the advice of Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan. He wrote to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly on Monday afternoon saying that the new measures would be necessary to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the coming weeks. According to the Irish Times, the letter is not an official missive from the national public-health emergency team but has been written by Dr Holohan in his capacity as chair of the group. A further 727 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the republic on Monday. No new deaths were recorded, with a total of 2,158  deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Restaurants and gastropubs may be forced to close as early as Christmas Eve

Details of the plan will be finalised at the Cabinet committee meeting which is due to begin at 6.30pm. Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Green Party leader Eamon Ryan will be briefed at the meeting by Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan. It is anticipated Mr Holohan will recommend closing the hospitality sector earlier than the December 28 date which was proposed by the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) last week. Limits on household visits may also be imposed sooner than previously expected. At present three households can meet in one home – and this was to be reduced to just two households on December 30.
