The holiday season has been thrown into chaos as states throughout Australia grapple with their response to Sydney s northern beaches coronavirus cluster and uncertainty dogs travellers and businesses looking to recover after a slow year.
Tourism providers are bracing for the impact of the reimposition of restrictions to travel, with state governments suggesting border closures are on the table and with some states taking a more aggressive approach to visitors from NSW.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian pleaded for state leaders to be “measured” in their imposition of fresh restrictions as the outbreak coincides with a period of mass transit immediately before Christmas.
If returning Victorians arrive after midnight on Monday, they will be placed into hotel quarantine for 14 days.
“The rest of New South Wales remains a green zone,” Mr Andrews said. “While there is a concentration of those cases in the northern beaches local government area, there is transmission beyond that part of Sydney and there are a number of significant exposure sites where infectious people have been in the Sydney CBD.
“It is based on the best of public health advice. It is proportionate to a deteriorating set of circumstances in Greater Sydney.
