UK regulator says AstraZeneca jab safe after seven clot deaths
Britain s medicines regulator is urging people to continue taking the AstraZeneca coronavirusvaccine, despite revealing that seven people in the UK have died from rare blood clots after getting the jab.
The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency, or MHRA, said it wasn t clear if the shots are causing the clots, and that its rigorous review into the UK reports of rare and specific types of blood clots is ongoing.
Though the agency said late Friday that seven people had died as a result of developing blood clots, it didn t disclose any information about their ages or health conditions.
âWe are taking this very seriously,â Professor Kidd said.

âWe are being open about possible risks and acknowledge the uncertainty that this will cause.â
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and the Therapeutic Goods Administration were advising the government to continue the vaccine rollout as there was still no concrete evidence linking the clotting disorders to the vaccine.
Federal Health Department secretary Brendan Murphy said the government would continue to listen to the independent expert health advice.
âIf ATAGI or TGA recommends a change weâll act accordingly, but at the moment theyâre not making that recommendation,â he said
