Anambra govt confirms receipt of 78,810 doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala has confirmed receipt of 78,810 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in the state.
The Commissioner made the confirmation at the state’s cold store at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOTH), Amaku, Awka.
The state took delivery of the vaccines on Wednesday night at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, before moving them to the cold store for storage.
Meanwhile, the speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Uche Okafor, some commissioners and traditional rulers in the state, on Thursday received the vaccine, under the supervision of the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

Court convicts 20-year-old over simulated group sex video in Imo

An Imo State Magistrate Court, sitting at Umundugba, Isu local government area of the state, has convicted a 20-year-old school leaver, Peter Nwoke, for being the mastermind of a simulated group sex video that recently went viral, allegedly involving the state’s Public Complaints Commissioner, Chief Willie Amadi.
Giving a graphic account of what happened to the Magistrate, His Worship, C. P. Nnoromele, in suit number MCI/2C/2021, the Prosecutor, Mr Okereke Chikodi, said that soon after getting a formal complaint from Chief Willie Amadi, the Commissioner of Police set up a crack team of detectives to go after the people behind the alleged crime.

On January 4th, the people of Igbariam community in Anambra East local government area of the state converged on the royal square of the monarch of the community, Igwe Kelly Nkeli Nzekwe for his traditional Ofala ceremony. It was a happy moment for the monarch and also for his subjects who converged to celebrate him. The moment was particularly unique for them because the monarch was just coming out of over three months suspension slammed on him by the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano. But unknown to them, that at a time when they thought the monarch has regained control of his throne, he would suddenly bow out. He died just three days after the Ofala festival.

The Anambra State government has visited the wife and children of Chidiebere Nwoga who was killed on Tuesday night by a policeman, after he attempted to resist the impoundment of his motorcycle.
The delegation also visited the family of Izuchukwu Alaka, another commercial motorcycle rider who was killed in Ekwulobia on Wednesday, when a mob invaded the police station in the town.
The delegation consisting both of government delegates and members of a non-governmental organization visited the families of the two deceased persons in Igboukwu and Ogboji communities.
The visit, it was gathered, was at the instruction of the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano.
