The widow of a Covid-19 victim has urged the leader of a local authority to apologise over the wording of nine memorial plaques to those who lost their lives to the virus.
A five-lane ten pin bowling alley is opening at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on Friday. DC Bowl is located on the first floor of the Dolphin Centre, near the bistro and licensed bar area, where the squash courts were. Darlington Borough Council has spent £1.7m on the development, which it hopes will improve the leisure offer in the town and will bring in future income. Councillor Heather Scott, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: “I am amazed at the transformation of this part of the Dolphin Centre. Little over a year ago I looked out over the balcony area of the first floor and could only imagine what it would look like. The reality is that it looks fantastic and I am really excited that our centre users can come along and enjoy a wonderful time with family and friends with bowling, eating and drinking under one roof.

Major plans for a new-look Darlington Station have been unveiled.
A £100m scheme is set to create new platforms, a new entrance, station building and transport interchange - in a move that will improve connections both regionally and nationally, via the East Coast Main Line.

Darlington MP Peter Gibson with the team from Network Rail when work was being carried out in the autumn WORK is continuing to repair railway bridges in Darlington. Network Rail is restoring three historic railway bridges in the town, as part of a £60,000 project. Improvement work on two bridges on Yarm Road was completed late in 2020 and planning for restoration work for the bridge on North Road is underway. Network Rail workers will restore and repaint the bridge, and carry out minor repair work. A decision is due to be made on what colour to repaint the Grade II listed bridge.
