Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ofosu Ampofo is urging the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to rise above partisanship while conducting business in the House.
Speaking at Mr Bagbin’s thanksgiving service held in the Upper West Region, he said that it is important for the Speaker to foster good relationships with members of parliament regardless of their party affiliation.
This, he explained, will help work closely with the members to resolve some of the challenges facing Ghanaians.
“Mr Speaker, for the past three months you have been described by the NDC as NPP speaker, at one time the NPP has described you as NDC speaker.”

The Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, has urged the President to, as a matter of urgency, comply with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845) that requires Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to provide Parliament with their handing-over notes.
He said even though Act 845 required ministers and heads of MDAs to prepare handing-over notes 30 days to the presidential election, no minister or head of MDAs had submitted their handing over notes to Parliament.
That, he said, would not auger well for Parliament to effectively vet and scrutinise government appointees.
NDC caucus in Parliament demands copies of handing over notes
January 20, 2021 Mr Haruna Iddrisu
Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of being in breach of the Presidential (Transition) Act 2012, Act 845.
This is because the government, through the Administrator General, Haruna Iddrisu said, has failed to furnish the House with handing over notes of the various ministries, departments and agencies for the previous mandate of the president.
Section 6 of the Acts requires government to prepare the handing over notes 30 days to the presidential election.
The notes, section 7 of the Acts, mandates the Administrator-General to present the original copies to the elected president and copy Parliament, the Chief Justice, the Council of State, and the Public Records and Archives Administrative Department.
