Kayla Fitzgerald Five F-22 instructor pilots from the Air Force s 43rd Fighter Squadron took part in a live-fire exercise with AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles in mid-December. It was the squadron s first live-fire missile launch in five years, and for several of the pilots whose job is to train new F-22 pilots it was their first time firing a live AIM-9 missile.

DVIDS - News - The 94th FS returns to JBLE following rapid deployment

25 Members that deployed with the 94th Fighter Squadron returned to Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, from a rapid deployment in support of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility Dec. 19, 2020. The 94th FS practiced Agile Combat Employment, dispersing U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors manned with small maintenance support teams to various locations throughout the Pacific. While on location, they practiced hot-pit refueling from a C-130J Super Hercules and integrated with the Republic of Korea Air Force, while participating in their annual large force training exercise. Due to COVID-19 guidelines and precautionary measures, this deployment is unlike what members of the 94th FS have encountered in the past.

In a release, the Air Force said that the new armor has several different features from the standard tactical vest. It has a curved chest plate, lighter weight and shorter size than the armor distributed to other airmen, the release said, and it also uses a snap buckle instead of velcro.
