Family claims Bangladeshi man injured in BSF firing near Thakurgaon border Star Online Report Star Online Report
A Bangladeshi man was injured, allegedly from shots fired by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Ratnai border in Thakurgaon s Baliadangi upazila today.
The man was identified as Tariqul Islam (40) of Dogachi Madhupur village under the upazila, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
BSF members of Sonamoti camp shot him while he was working at his watermelon field, about 50 yards from the border, this morning leaving him injured, his family members said.
He was later admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Rakibul Alam said Tariqul Islam was admitted around 10:30am with injuries on head and other parts of his body.

Besides, vehicular movement and ferry operations on different routes remained suspended for several hours yesterday in different areas due to dense fog.
Yesterday s Met Office bulletin said, Moderate to thick fog may occur over the river basins of the country. Light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country from midnight to morning, it added. Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The northern part of the country is witnessing a sharp fall in temperature as the second spell of cold wave from the Himalayan sweeping through the region.
The bone-chilling cold, accompanied by mild cooler wind, during the last four days disrupted normal life in different areas of Panchagarh and Thakurgaon.
Met office recorded the lowest temperate at 9 degrees Celsius in Tentulia yesterday.
It also said the temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsious at night but the temperature during daytime may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The Met office also said that moderate to thick fog may occur if weather remain dry over the country.
With mercury coming down, elderly people and children are being affected by cold related diseases.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, a bone-chilling cold wave, accompanied by mild wind, disrupted normal life in different areas of Panchagarh and Thakurgaon in the last four days.
The adverse weather hit many, especially the low-income group people like farm workers, day labourers and rickshaw-pullers, who manage their livelihood hand to mouth.
