According to Dave Meltzer in this week s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling s first pay-per-view of 2021 Hard to Kill brought in the company s second-highest PPV buys since the company lost their Spike TV deal in 2014.
Meltzer didn t report the actual number, but said last July s Slammiversary, which was built around the surprise appearances of former WWE wrestlers on the show, has the number one spot.
The January 16th show featured the in-ring debut of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega as part of an AEW/Impact angle that began in December after Omega won the title with Don Callis help. Omega teamed with Impact Tag Team Champions the Good Brothers against Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Moose and Chris Sabin, picking up the win.
Pro wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer took to Twitter this week and called out AEW President & CEO Tony Khan for his latest “paid ad” on Impact Wrestling TV.
As noted, Khan and Tony Schiavone appeared on Impact this week for their 11th “paid advertisement” segment. This time The Tony’s brought several AEW wrestlers with them, some who were previously members of the Impact roster – Dr. Britt Baker, Rebel, Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Ryan Nemeth, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy. Two Big Title Matches Added To Impact’s “Sacrifice”
Impact Wrestling has just announced that the Impact World Champion Rich Swann will put his title on the line against Moose in the main event of their exclusive event,
Sacrifice, on Saturday, March 13.
Swann and Moose’s rivalry began at
Hard To Kill when both men, along with Chris Sabin, fell short against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and the Impact World Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers. Following their match, Moose ambushed the World Champion and claimed his spot as the next challenger to Swann’s title. For weeks, Swann has pushed the self-proclaimed TNA World Heavyweight Champion off to the side, but Moose has always found a way to slither in and attack the champion while he’s down. In two weeks, he’ll finally get his due.
