During last Wednesday s rundown for the second night of the New Year s Smash editions of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that The Elite would be in action. While not specifically stated as such, it was assumed that would mean AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks.
However, after a Don Callis and Omega promo released over the weekend, the timing and a note in this past week s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega might be teaming with Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers instead.
At the end of Dynamite, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made a surprise appearance to join Omega, later reforming a faction with former Bullet Club teammates Matt and Nick Jackson to close the show.
Impact Wrestling confirmed today that AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega will be making an appearance on Tuesday's episode of Impact on AXS TV. They wrote the following on Twitter:
In a twist, Moose earned a future shot at Impact World Champion Rich Swann despite losing to Willie Mack in an I Quit match at Saturday s Genesis on Impact Plus.
In the show s main event, Moose had Mack knocked out following several elbows, rendering him unable to say I quit. Moose was preparing to Pillmanize Mack s neck when Swann ran out and asked him to stop. Moose initially refused, resulting in Swann pleading with him and offering him a title shot he had wanted for some time. Moose said the magic words and Mack won as a result.
Swann will be part of a six-man tag at next Saturday s Hard To Kill pay-per-view, teaming with the Motor City Machine Guns against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers.
