Backstage News On The Success Of Impact Wrestling Rebellion PPV ); The Impact Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view event that was headlined by the “Title vs. Title” match featuring AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and then-Impact World Champion Rich Swann was a big success.  Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that this event was the most successful PPV for the company in ‘many years’ but the exact numbers are unknown at this time. ); Per the report, the streaming numbers at the start of the show were higher than the total number of buys for any show since Anthem bought the company from Dixie Carter in 2017. 

This Week s Official AEW Rankings: Orange Cassidy and 10 Join Top 5

All Elite Wrestling has revealed this week’s official AEW rankings, which sees some major shifts in the men’s division. Orange Cassidy enters the top five at #2, while The Dark Order’s 10 comes in at #5. They replace Jungle Boy and Powerhouse Hobbs, who both fell out after losses on last week’s Dynamite. Cassidy drops Jon Moxley down to #3 while PAC moves up a spot to #4. In the women’s division, Britt Baker is the new #1 contender while Thunder Rosa also moves up a spot to #2. Tay Conti dropped to #3 after her loss on Dynamite. In the tag team division, the Acclaimed replace the Butcher and the Blade at #4. In an interesting note, Kenny Omega’s win/loss record is now at 4-0 singles, so it seems that his title match at Impact Wrestling Rebellion counted towards his AEW record. He defeated Rich Swann at the event to become the new Impact World Champion, in addition to being the AEW World Champion and AAA Mega Champion.

B finished second with 37 percent of the vote. -76 percent of our voters gave best match of the night honors to AEW Champion Kenny Omega vs. Impact World Champion Rich Swann in a title vs. title match. No other match received more than four percent of the voting. Powell’s POV: I gave the show a B grade. I agree with the majority of the readers when it came to the main event easily being the best match of the night, and gave Josh Alexander vs. TJP vs. Ace Austin for the X Division Championship my second place vote. The documentary finished tenth in Sunday’s cable ratings with a .27 rating in the 18-49 demographic. -Sunday’s WWE Most Wanted Treasures scored 769,000 viewers for A&E and finished eleventh in the cable ratings with a .27 rating. The show featured Undertaker and Kane searching for lost memorabilia. The number was up in total viewership from last week’s premiere episode with Mick Foley, which drew 766,000 viewers with a .29 rating. Powell’s POV: Last week’s Steve Austin documentary drew 1.062 million viewers with a .38 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This week’s shows ran opposite The Oscars and the Impact Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view.

Backstage Update on Kenny Omega Following Rebellion Win, Next Impact Title Defense

– At Sunday’s Impact Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view event, AEW World champion Kenny Omega defeated Rich Swann in order to capture the Impact World Championship, and he now holds claim to both titles. Following the title win, Dave Meltzer confirmed on F4WOnline.com that Omega will be wrestling for Impact again at next month’s Under Siege event, which is scheduled for May 15 on Impact Plus. During today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer also reported that Omega will be at the next set of Impact TV tapings. Also, during today’s WOR, Meltzer clarified that Kenny Omega will “definitely” be defending the title for the first time at Under Siege. Meltzer went on to state that Omega is likely working a tag team match for the TV tapings, and he expected this Thursday’s show will give an idea who the Under Siege title defense will be against.
