PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday reverted back to 60 years as the retirement age of the government servants from the previous 63-years, closed down educational institutions in nine districts in view of rising coronavirus cases and took several other decisions.
The decisions were taken by a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, said an official handout.
Ministers, advisers, special assistants to the chief minister, secretaries took for debate a 14-agenda item and made a number of decisions.
Addressing the cabinet, Mahmood Khan directed the departments to ensure implementation on the development and public welfare schemes under time-tag in the remaining two and half years of the government.

The expansive Haroni River (translated in Shona as a hiding place) still beckoned to us. This river separates the village town from a mountain range, but there was no bridge in sight.
The only hopes for crossing the river were carefully laid boulders in the river-bed. All that we needed was a 4×4 vehicle, gritted teeth and great determination to get to the other side of the river. Except we had no vehicle now.

CHIREDZI West MP, Farai Musikavanhu (Zanu PF) has torched a storm after he commented on behalf of two other legislators with regards to the controversial lucerne grass project in the Chilonga area of Chiredzi.
This was after Musikavanhu commented on behalf of other Members of Parliament, overriding Denford Masiya (Chiredzi East, Zanu PF) and Callisto Gwanetsa (Chiredzi South, Zanu PF).
The project is likely to displace over 12 000 villagers in Chilonga after government on February 26 promulgated Statutory Instrument (SI) 50 of 2021, ordering the villagers to vacate their ancestral land to pave way for the project by Dendairy, a company based in Kwekwe.
