Jafo orders EPZA, TPA and NEMC to trace expired molasses containers
A cross section of government regulatory authorities and security agents at Dar es Salaam Port have been put to task by Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office responsible for Union Affairs and the Environment, Selemani Jafo for negligence regarding importation of more than 300 containers .
Jafo who visited the port this week doubted the competence and integrity of officials from Tanzania Ports Authority, Tanzania Revenue Authority, National Environment Man agent Council and Export Processing Zone Authority for allowing the unidentified bogus investor who imported the substance and abandoned it at the port and other bonded warehouses.

Kenya-based shipyard, Southern Engineering Company (Seco), reached a milestone in the construction of vessels after completing three pilot boats for Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA). This brings the number of vessels built in the yard to eight in less than a decade.
The three vessels with a length of 20 metres, depth of three metres and a draft of 1.7 metres christened Rubani 1 for Dar es Salaam Port, Rubani 2 for Tanga Port and Rubani 3 for Mtwara Port. They were designed to specification by Western Australia-based award winning naval architecture firm Southerly Designs.

(CAJ News) – THE suspension and arrest of a senior government and leadership changes at various government institutions beset by problems, Tanzania president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has hit the ground running, accelerating the anti-corruption crusade of his predecessor, the now-late John Magufuli.
Thrust into the office under tragic circumstances towards the end of March, the new president has acted swiftly, with Deusdedit Kakoko, Director General of the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), who incurred the wrath of the new broom sweeping clean.
Recently, Hassan suspended Kakoko in connection with graft allegations.
The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) has since arrested the beleaguered government official as part of investigations into allegations of embezzlement of public funds amounting Sh3,6 billion (about US$1,55 million).
