Private sector team praises Kenya visit, other measures
PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday promoted Senior Assistant Police Commissioner (SACP), Camilius Wambura to Commissioner of Police (CP) and assigned him duties of Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Presidential communications director Gerson Msigwa said in a statement that Commissioner Wambura replaces DCI Robert Boaz, whose next assignment was not given.
The change comes a few days since Inspector General of Police (IGP) Simon Sirro appointed SACP Wambura to the Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone command, replacing Lazaro Mambosasa, who shifts to Dodoma.
TIC registers new investment projects worth over 2.28trn/-
SOME 151 new projects worth U$987 million (over 2.28trn/-) were registered by Tanzania Investment Centre for the period covering July last year and March 2021.

TIC’s Executive Director, Dr Maduhu Kazi said in Dar es Salaam mid this week that the projects which created an estimated 13,857 jobs include 51 worth U$451 million registered during the first quarter of this year.
Dr Kazi said the coronavurus outbreak affected the number of new investment projects as most of the world was under lockdown saying TIC had targeted to increase the volume to new record highs compared to the year before.

Revamping trade policies set to boost private sector
THE government is to introduce new policies aimed at addressing structural and legal challenges impeding trade and private sector growth.
Geoffrey Mwambe, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Investments), said yesterday that revamped trade and private sector policies will help to bring up a vibrant private sector working closely with the government, thus facilitating economic growth.
At a breakfast meeting with members of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), the minister said umbrella bodies of the private sector face structural and legal challenges impeding representation, stifling a common voice for the sector.
