In 1904, the Deer River School consisted of about three dozen students. In February, the sixth graders were assigned to write an essay about President Lincoln. Two were selected to be printed in the newspaper.
Roy Belcherâs essay was about a half a column and here is the first paragraph.
âNot long after the Boones crossed the mountains to Kentucky, a man by the name of Abraham Lincoln followed their example and brought his wife and children with him. The Lincolns and Boones were of the same class of people. They were hardy pioneers always seeking a new country. This Abraham Lincoln was grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born in a log-cabin in Kentucky, February 12, 1809.âÂ

The medical director for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department has received a national award for his work to ensure inmates and underserved people who live in the North End of Springfield receive the health care they need.
Dr. Thomas Lincoln, who also works as a primary care physician at Baystate Brightwood Health Center, was named the 2021 recipient of the W. Lester Henry Award for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It is given by the American College of Physicians and recognizes medical workers who improve health equity for people who are historically marginalized, officials said.

Prior to “Fake News” and slanted news channels on television in the modern era there were also rumors about the paternity of the 16
th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln, who has historically been credited with saving the country through his support of the Union in the Civil War (War to Suppress the Rebellious) and that his father was not Thomas Lincoln but was Abram Enloe.
The origin of the paternity story started in articles in the September 10 and 17, 1893 editions of the newspaper Charlotte Observer. After it got circulated several other Western North Carolina writers perpetuated the myth.
