Sheriff’s Office to continue Rio Vista policing duties
FAIRFIELD The Solano County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide policing service to Rio Vista through the end of June.
The Board of Supervisors approved an amended agreement Tuesday by which Rio Vista will pay the county nearly $1.27 million for the additional service. It brings the total contract with the city to just shy of $3.8 million.
The supervisors’ action was part of the consent agenda. There was no comment.
In other action, the board:
• Approved participation in the 2020 Urban Area Security Initiative; approved an agreement with San Francisco to receive $147,117 in Urban Area Security Initiative funds through Dec. 31, 2021; approved an appropriations transfer of $147,117 in unanticipated grant revenue; and approved the purchases of tower antennas, associated radio repeater, backhaul network equipment, a biological safety cabinet and a laboratory freezer at a cost of $147,117.
The legislation would prohibit New York state and local law enforcement agencies from receiving or purchasing the following property from a military equipment surplus program operated by the federal government.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 13, 2020) – A bill filed in the Florida House would put limits on state and local law enforcement agencies’ ability to acquire certain military equipment from federal programs.
Rep. Travaris McCurdy (D-Orlando) filed House Bill 187 (H187) and it was formally introduced on Jan. 8. The legislation would prohibit any Florida law enforcement agency from acquiring, purchasing, or accepting on any terms the following military equipment:
A weaponized unmanned aerial vehicle;
An aircraft that is configured for combat or is combat-coded and has no established commercial flight application;
A grenade or similar explosive or grenade launcher; or
An armored multi-wheeled vehicle that is mine-resistant, ambush-protected, and configured for combat

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today celebrated the inclusion of a massive new funding increase for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in the year-end Omnibus bill passed by Congress last night. The legislation includes $180 million evenly split between the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) and State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP). Congress appropriated $90 for this program last year.
