On March 8, 2012, at approximately 10:00 pm local time, a fire broke out at the Grand Park Avenue Bangkok Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 22.
On March 8, 2012, at approximately 10:00 pm local time, a fire broke out at the Grand Park Avenue Bangkok Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 22. Sadly, the fire resulted in one confirmed fatality of a foreign national. The nationality of that individual has not yet been confirmed.
Hotel guests were immediately moved to the safety of nearby hotels by the Thai Hotel Association (THA). Around 25 guests were transferred to local hospitals for treatment, mostly related to smoke inhalation.

Inoculated tourists can start booking for the second reopening destination, Samui Plus, under sealed route programme as the registration for certificate of entry (COE) was opened on Monday.
Ratchaporn Poolsawadee, president of the Tourism Association of Koh Samui, said some minor rules still need to be finalised, such as the cost of a 7-day alternative state quarantine (ALQ) package that should cost 35,000 baht, including swab tests and medical fees.
While many provinces, like Phuket, impose more stringent measures for local travellers, he said Koh Samui will not ask vaccinated travellers to show negative Covid-19 results.

Tourism businesses are asking for financial support during the new partial lockdown, which poses another hurdle for the long-suffering industry, while Thai AirAsia halts all domestic routes from July 10-30.
Thai AirAsia was the first local airline to announce temporary suspensions on domestic routes, in accordance with travel restrictions yesterday.
Thai Vietjet reported it plans to reduce domestic seat capacity by 30-50%, though it is maintaining service routes.

Despite tourism operators and tourism-related agencies giving their blood, sweat and tears to ensure that the Phuket sandbox scheme marked the country s reopening on July 1, their work is not yet complete. Instead, it just marks the beginning of a long road towards recovery.
As of Tuesday, the island had already welcomed 1,896 international travellers and all of them tested negative for Covid-19.
