Thailand s Ministry of Tourism and Sports aims to discuss with Singapore a travel bubble between the two countries.
Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said discussions would take place this week with the Singaporean embassy.
He said: “We have acknowledged that Singapore has previously run the travel bubble with Australia and New Zealand.
“If Singapore agrees to run the scheme with Thailand as well, we would probably be able to receive tourists from Australia and New Zealand, in addition to Singaporeans.”
He added that his ministry aimed to discuss the travel bubble with other ASEAN countries as well, such as Vietnam and Laos where Covid-19 new cases were low.

Thailand: Five million tourists in 2021 will be a success
February 2, 2021
Thailand’s chief tourism official announced that the country expects to welcome five million tourists in 2021. However, initially, Thai authorities predicted that the tourist flow will be ten million tourists.
“If we can attract five million guests this year under the current circumstances, it will be a success,” said the head of the country’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.
First of all, the focus will be on tourists from Asian countries – China, India and Malaysia. Visitors from these countries accounted for 40% of the 39.8 million tourists vacationing in Thailand in 2019.
