Chao Phraya express ferry services have been temporarily suspended on weekends and public holidays, with the operator citing a 90% drop in passengers.
Managing director of the Chao Phraya Express Boat Co Charoenporn Charoentham announced the decision on Friday. It is effective immediately.
He said the Marine Department s Covid-19 control measures had discouraged people from travelling since March 26 last year. This resulted in a sharp drop in the number of commuters.

SET-listed property firm Singha Estate plans to invest 2.42 billion baht to develop World Food Valley industrial estate on 1,790 rai in Ang Thong s Chaiyo district.
The investment includes 510 million baht for the entirety of shares of Park Industry Co, which owns the estate, and 1.72 billion baht for development of the estate and other costs.
Chutinant Bhirombhakdi, chairman of Singha Estate, said the company s acquisition of the industrial estate is closely linked to three power plants in which the firm acquired a stake.

PHUKET: The Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Koh Phi Phi national park has closed for 13 days, from today (May 5), to control the spread of COVID-19, confirmed the park chief Prayoon Pongphan.

“The number of infected cases in many areas, including Krabi, is increasing. From the disease investigation, it was found that this cluster is from an entertainment venue and a gathering of people in high-risk areas,” Mr Prayoon said in the announcement last night (May 4).
“To control the wide spreading of the virus, the park management has necessary reason to use measures to control the area under our responsibility,” he added.
