On Wednesday, Paulk said a recorded confession to killing the 17-year-old found dead in a mat at Lowndes High School in 2013 turned out to be false.
FHP arrests kidnapper in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a kidnapping suspect after a multi-agency pursuit ended in Madison County, Florida on Monday morning.
According to FHP, a 16-year-old female was kidnapped in Alabama on May 9, 2021. The suspect took the victim and her vehicle and traveled into Georgia, where a pursuit began just after midnight on May 10, 2021, in Brooks County.
Georgia State Patrol and Brooks County Sheriffâs Office Deputies followed the suspect into Madison County, Fla., where the FHP joined.
Shortly after FHP joined, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed and the suspect fled on foot.
A man and a woman were shot in the parking lot, according to the GBI.
Both were taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Arrest warrants for Wright were obtained on April 21. After the Lowndes County Sheriffâs Office searched for him, it was determined that Wright had fled to Tennessee, according to the GBI.
The GBI said Wright is awaiting extradition back to Lowndes County.

The ordeal began in Geneva County about 3:30 p.m. and ended early Monday after a police chase that spanned both Georgia and Florida during which shots were fired. Iziquel Pashenz Vang, 21, is being held in a Florida jail.
Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms said 16-year-old Jada Yvonne Varner had been in a relationship with Vang but had broken up with him on Wednesday. Her family had been gone from their Slocomb home because they were concerned Vang might try to harm Varner but returned Sunday to pick up some of their belongings.
