15 hrs ago The Murfreesboro Planning Commission voted to recommend approval to rezone 116.7 acres of land along Veterans Parkway despite criticism from Blackman community residents at last Wednesday’s public hearing. Principal Planner Margaret Ann Green presented the City Administration Department’s request to rezone 101.7 acres from Park District (P) to Commercial Highway District (CH) and Gateway Overlay District 3 (GDO-3) and 15 acres to be zoned P and GDO-3. The properties noted within the application are along Veterans Parkway, south of Burnt Knob Road, west of Blackman Road and north of Vaughn Road. The city-owned property was zoned P in 2017 with the intention of adding a park on the west side of Murfreesboro, according to Green. The area was commonly referred to as the West Park site.
