(CNS News) After the virtual March for Life this year on Jan. 29, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced that he was reintroducing into the Senate two of his pro-life bills, the Life at Conception Act and the Defund Planned Parenthood Act.
“Today I proudly join thousands of you nationwide who are marching to celebrate life as well as defend the innocent,” said Paul, a medical doctor. “Abortion providers like Planned Parenthood will tell you differently, but every single life matters, including the unborn.”

“I was proud to force the Senate to vote on defunding this organization,” said Paul. “Our nation cannot expect to fully protect and maintain our other rights, if we do not respect the fundamental right to life even starting in the womb.”
Baton Rouge, La., Nov 19, 2019 / 10:00 am (CNA).- Pro-lifers are hopeful that the re-election of Democrat John Bel Edwards as Louisiana governor could turn the tide in a party whose leadership has grown increasingly more pro-abortion with each election cycle.
John Bel Edwards was re-elected as governor of Louisiana on Saturday by a 40,000-vote margin, winning more than 51 percent of the state’s vote.
A Catholic, Edwards first ran for the office in 2015 on an explicitly pro-life platform and won more than 56% of the vote. His campaign aired a TV ad revealing that Edwards and his wife, then 20 weeks pregnant with their daughter, had discovered she had spina bifida in utero. They couple faced down encouragement from a doctor to abort their child.

28 January 2021 The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) welcomes the news of President Biden’s decision to keep his promise and repeal the harmful Global Gag Rule (GGR) – also known as the Mexico City Policy. Since its expanded reintroduction in 2017 by the previous administration, the Global Gag Rule has contributed to an increase in unintended and high-risk pregnancies, unsafe abortions – culminating in unnecessary maternal deaths. For IPPF, 53 healthcare projects in 32 countries were impacted by GGR, with some Member Associations losing up to 60% of their funding. IPPF’s Director-General, Dr Alvaro Bermejo said:
“I welcome the decision by President Biden to repeal the Global Gag Rule.
