The rally for reproductive rights was co-sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana and Kentucky. The action targeted two bills in the Kentucky legislature, which reconvened that day. “One of them gives power to the attorney general of Kentucky to open up frivolous lawsuits against the remaining clinics we have in Kentucky,” Jackie McGranahan, from the Reproductive Freedom Project for ACLU Kentucky, told the Militant. This bill, House Bill 2, would separate regulation of clinics that provide abortions from all other health care facilities. It would remove these clinics from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which licenses and regulates all health care, day care and many other facilities, and turn them over to the state attorne

While Americans remain focused on the mounting death toll precipitated by the coronavirus pandemic, the 1.8 million worldwide deaths caused by it in 2020 pale in comparison to the leading cause of death last year. As the statistic-compiling Worldometer website reveals, a record-setting 42.7 million preborn babies were aborted over the same time period. In 1993, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan coined the term âdefining deviancy downâ to aptly describe Americaâs increasing acceptance of previously unacceptable behavior. He was late to the party. The devolution of American society began in earnest in the 1960s, when the cultural revolution engendered by the Left made radical secularism the centerpiece of its cancerous agenda. In short order, assertions such as âGod is deadâ and all morality is ârelativeâ began resonating, especially among younger Americans yearning to âdo their own thing.â

Douglas Andrews Two things occurred to our editorial team as we watched things spin out of control at the Capitol yesterday afternoon: First, we knew this would be one of those few-in-a-lifetime days that we remember because of its uniqueness and its gravity â a day like 9/11 or the day of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. And second, we wondered whether those Central American refugees amassing at our southern border would scratch their heads, turn around, and head back home. Admittedly, a third thing also occurred to us: What a mess our country seems to be right now. Searching for some honor and decency amid the rubble that was January 6, 2021, we came across these simple words from Vice President Mike Pence: âItâs my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not.â
