Foreign travellers to get US-donated vaccine shots

The government announced on Saturday that the 2.5 million doses of Moderna anti-Covid vaccine donated by the US government would be administered to those Pakistanis, who intended to travel abroad on work or student visa.
The announcement by Planning Minister Asad Umar, who heads the government strategy to combat the global pandemic, came a day after the authorities received the consignment from the US. The announcement also comes at time when the Covid-19 pandemic showed signs of increase, again.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said in its daily update of the disease on Saturday that the single-day tally of coronavirus cases hit 1,400 level for the first time since June 7, pushing the national tally of active cases above 32,000 and the national positivity ratio to nearly 3%.

Pakistan received 2.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine on Friday, Planning Minister Asad Umar confirmed.
The vaccine will be particularly used on those who have to travel for work or study to countries that are only accepting certain vaccines, said Umar, who heads the National Command and Operation Centre on coronavirus.
On June 29, the Biden administration announced donation of doses to Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: With power sector circular debt touching Rs2.327 trillion as of June 30, 2021, the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) on Thursday ordered expeditious implementation on oil crisis report including transfer of additional powers to Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to regulate oil marketing sector.
Presided over by Planning Minister Asad Umar, the CCoE also desired a final position of all the stakeholders on allocation of pipeline capacity and tie-in mechanism before the next meeting to secure final investment decisions (FIDs) from investors of two additional merchant LNG terminals. It was noted that discouraging signals were going out to the investors who had paid different fees and made other expenditures so far which was not a good omen.
