PM hails Amazon for approving Pakistani sellers

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday hailed Amazon for approving Pakistani sellers to export their goods through their system, opening opportunities for the youth as it would enable a new breed of young entrepreneurs to join the export market.
In a tweet, the prime minister said: “A great development as Amazon has finally approved that our sellers can export their goods through their system. Amazon starting operations in Pakistan will open opportunities for our youths as it will enable a new breed of young men & women entrepreneurs to join the export market.” Meanwhile, the prime minister chaired a meeting on the proposed recommendations regarding the Public Sector Development Programme for the next financial year. Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Industry Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Special Assistant Dr Waqar Masood and senior officials attended the meeting.

Rupee shoots to 23-month high
Closes at Rs152.6 against dollar as remittances rise in Ramazan
KARACHI:
Pakistani rupee maintained its uptrend for the seventh successive working day and hit a 23-month high of Rs152.6 against the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Thursday following an increase in supply of foreign currencies compared to demand in the domestic market.
With fresh appreciation of Rs0.44, the rupee has cumulatively gained Rs1.9 (or 1.23%) in the past seven working days and closed at Rs152.6 against the US dollar. Such a closing level was last seen in June 2019, according to the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) data.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday emphasized incorporating new development projects in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) to help generate economic activity and create employment opportunities.
Chairing a meeting on the recommendations regarding PSDP for the next financial year, the prime minister directed to finalize the recommendations till the next meeting.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Tuesday announced it was forming special monitoring teams at the federal, provincial, and district levels to ensure the enforcement of coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the Eidul Fitr break from May 8-16.
According to a statement, the government has directed all businesses and shops to remain closed next week as part of its “Stay Home, Stay Safe” campaign. Grocery shops, bakeries, and sweet shops would be allowed to stay open every day till 6 p.m., while tandoors and dairies would be allowed to remain open 24/7. Restaurants would also be allowed to stay open 24/7, but would only be able to offer takeaway or delivery services both indoor and outdo
