Renewable energy training facility gets the green light

The renewable energy sector workforce is expected to be given a boost thanks to a Queensland Government decision that will see a state-of-the-art renewable energy training facility at Pinkenba for the electrical industry.
Deputy Premier and Planning Minister Steven Miles said this is a great example of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to reaching its 50 per cent renewable target by 2030.
“As Planning Minister, I have approved a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation for the Pinkenba Renewable Energy Training Facility,” Mr Miles said.

Attorney-General and Domestic Violence Prevention Minister Shannon Fentiman said governments were actively looking at a register that would reveal whether a person has had domestic violence orders brought against them in the past. Ms Fentiman said the government wanted to look at anything and everything that would keep women safe and anticipated the Women s Safety and Justice task force, headed by Justice Margaret McMurdo, would be lobbied over such a scheme.

Two windfarms and up to 400 jobs in the Southern Downs are a step closer to reality with the State Assessment and Referral Agency giving the green light.
Deputy Premier and Planning Minister Steven Miles said Acciona received approval to build the $1.96 billion MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct (the Precinct) at Cement Mills, approximately 40 kilometres south-west of Warwick.
“Soon there will be 180 wind turbines in the Darling Downs South West region propelling up to 1026 megawatts of energy into Queensland’s electricity network,” Mr Miles said.

On Monday, more than 200 Year 7 students in Brisbane will walk through a complex construction site to continue their first year of secondary schooling.
Work is not scheduled to be finished at the new Brisbane South State Secondary College in Dutton Park until late this year, despite opening to students in Term 1.
Heavy machinery is still being used at the new Brisbane South State Secondary College at Dutton Park, where more than 200 students are enrolled.
