Police officers nationwide have quit in droves over the last year while law enforcement agencies have struggled to attract new recruits because of the increasingly “toxic” political environment, police groups said.
“We are seeing a large number of officers leaving the force,” Fairfax County Police Association (FCPA) President Jeremy Hoffman told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “What’s just as disturbing as that is we’re having trouble recruiting.”
More than 5,300 New York Police Department officers retired or quit in 2020, a 75% increase compared to 2019, while more than 200 officers quit the Seattle Police Department, citing the growing anti-police climate.

Corporations have consistently attacked conservative values while expecting Republicans to grant them political favors, Sen. Ted Cruz wrote in a Wall Street Journal editorial Wednesday evening. The Texas senator said “woke CEOs” like Republicans until any sign of controversy is sparked online, causing them to run away.
“For too long, Republicans have allowed the left and their big-business allies to attack our values with no response,” Cruz wrote in the WSJ editorial. “We’ve allowed them to ship jobs overseas, attack gun rights, and destroy our energy companies. We’ve let them smear Republicans without paying any price.”

Ehlinger testified before the ethics committee on Wednesday, Fox News reported. The committee unanimously agreed that the accusations against von Ehlinger are “unbecoming” and that the representative should not receive pay or benefits, nor return to Capitol grounds and that a substitute legislator fill his place, the Idaho Press reported.
Von Ehlinger pleaded the Fifth during his testimony Wednesday at the recommendation of his legal counsel, Fox News reported. The committee said that his testimony cannot be used in criminal court cases under Idaho state law.
The accuser used the name Jane Doe to protect her identity during the hearing, but some blogs and Republican Rep. Priscilla Giddings had revealed her identity in social media posts, which were removed shortly after, according to Fox News.
