Jharna Rahman receives the prestigious Ananya Shahittya Puroshkar 1427

Anannya Magazine and has recognised trailblazing women throughout the years ever since. Born in 1959, Jharna Rahman has been defining Bangla literature since the 1980s with her short stories, novels, travelogues, essays, non-fiction, and children s books. So far, she has close to 60 books to her credit. Some of her notable novels and short story collections include Ognita, Shorbotorbari, Perek, Chondrodohon, and Adritar Potaka, among others. Speaking to Daily Star Books, she said, I am extremely happy receiving the prize. A literary award always encourages the writer. It is after all an acknowledgement of their work. I am extremely grateful to the Anannya family .

Some publishers could not get there in time to move their stocks, as a result of which many stalls collapsed and books were damaged. Many visitors got stuck at the Suhwardy Uddyan premises as the storm intensified, taking refuge at the Lekhok Bolchi stage; book fair organisers and volunteers took shelter inside the stall pavilion.
