There s a new, happy surprise swimming around in the cold waters of the Salish Sea: an orca calf.
The Orca Network reported Wednesday that L-86 also known as Surprise! by researchers after her surprise birth in 1991 recently gave birth to a baby calf identified as L125. The successful birth marks the first calf born into L pod since Jan. 2019.
