Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will continue today and tonight. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is likely, with locally higher amounts possible due to thunderstorms and persistent areas of rain. Heavy rain may cause excess runoff, and localized flooding with significant flash flooding is possible. A few stronger thunderstorms could develop this afternoon and early evening could also produce some damaging winds, with the best chance south of the Cumberland Parkway. The WPC has placed much of the state in a MODERATE risk for excessive rainfall, which means numerous flash floods are likely. The SPC has also put much of Kentucky in a MARGINAL risk for severe weather, which means Isolated Severe Storms are expected. Stay tuned throughout the day and into tonight, we will keep you updated on all the latest weather Information!

Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts will be possible across the Watch area. Heavy rainfall may cause excess runoff and localized flooding issues in the Watch area. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the entire listening area! A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
