(Photo by Juergen Beck) Facebook Share Come this fall, food and wine festivals in the state could be a lot more profitable for Alabama winemakers. Food and wine events are plentiful in Alabama. In theory, the days of food and libations should be a good opportunity for winemakers to showcase their products and attract sales. But for the 20 wineries in the state, participation in these culinary events hasn’t been worth the effort.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Several New Mexico businesses will be breathing new life into Old Town come late spring. Noisy Water Winery out of Ruidoso, and Sheehan Winery in Albuquerque, will each open tasting rooms in Plaza Don Luis. Noisy Water Winery, Sheehan Winery and a handful of other businesses including an art gallery, salon and brewery taproom will soon open up shop in Plaza Don Luis in Old Town. (Roberto E. Wine Conferences East of the Rockies Go Virtual in 2021   With the Covid-19 crisis still limiting or preventing in-person gatherings, many wine conferences and educational programs have changed to virtual schedules for enology, viticultural, and wine marketing/business meetings. While online sessions are obviously not the same as seeing and talking with speakers and other attendees in person, there are some advantages to “attending” virtual programs. Conference organizers have the option to include presenters based on their knowledge on topic under discussion, not how much it would cost to bring them to a specific location. And there certainly are a wide variety of virtual programs that anyone in the wine industry can attend, often at no cost.

Was Stiefel threatening the welfare of the Rainsville, Alabama, community with some form of sabotage? “I was making blueberry wine,” Stiefel said in a telephone interview. The citizens of Rainsville voted in August to end a long dry spell by legalizing the sale of alcohol. On Nov. 9, the city published a list of the first three businesses receiving alcohol licenses. Unfortunately for Stiefel, the Rainsville Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) is not on the list.
