ACE MV, Adult and Continuing Education of Martha’s Vineyard, has brought on three new staff members in new positions that enable the nonprofit to continue to provide affordable and accessible learning opportunities, according to a press release from the organization.
Lisette Williams, career navigation specialist, joins as a full-time liaison between ACE MV and Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. This new position, funded through a grant from M.V. Youth and with support from ACE MV and the school, will provide training to the high school guidance department, develop new physical and digital resources for career pathways for high school students, and serve youth and young adults seeking training and career opportunities on the Island. O.B. secures $210,000 shared streets grant
Oak Bluffs received a $210,000 grant from the state’s Shared Winter Streets & Spaces program to create new sidewalks and improve the bus stop at the Martha’s Vineyard Skatepark.
With the funding, the town will construct brand-new, ADA-compliant sidewalks with lighting around the skatepark, connected to existing paved paths to the YMCA, Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, and the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
The Oak Bluffs grant is part of $3.2 million for third-round funding for the shared streets program. The program provides technical and funding assistance to help Massachusetts cities and towns conceive, design, and implement tactical changes to curbs, streets, and parking areas in support of public health, safe mobility, and renewed commerce, with a special focus on the particular challenges of winter.

Hungry for a new recipe? Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 pm, the West Tisbury library presents “Cooking Local with Kevin Crowell,” a weekly Zoom cooking series for teens and adults with Chef Kevin Crowell. In a press release from the library, they thank Slough Farm for the use of their kitchen space for the virtual classes.
All ingredients will be supplied by the library and available for curbside pick up the week of each class. Sign up by emailing lhearn@clamsnet.org. Class is limited to 10 signups. One sign up per household, but each meal will feed four people. There will be a separate signup for each class date, so specify what date or dates you would like to attend.
