The Fairness in Women s Sports Act is now law in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the measure Tuesday at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville. I can tell you this- in Florida- girls are going to play girls sports and boys are going to play boys sports, Governor DeSantis said. That s what we re doing and we re going to make sure that s the reality.
The act bans transgender athletes from competing in high school girls and college women s sports. Eligibility will be determined by a student s biological sex. We re not only making sure women have opportunities for scholarships and competition at the highest level- we re also putting in statute ways to actually vindicate the rights of any women athletes who may be discriminated against.
