MIT grad student wanted for questioning in slaying of Yale student believed to be in Georgia

MIT graduate student Qinxuan Pan, a person of interest in the murder of a Yale graduate student, may be in Georgia where a relative last saw him wearing a black backpack as he walked away from their car, the US Marshals Service said Friday.
Pan, 29, allegedly stole an SUV from a car dealership in Mansfield around 11 a.m. on Feb. 6, and authorities are trying to determine if he used the SUV when 26-year-old Kevin Jiang was shot to death in New Haven around 8:30 p.m. that same day.

Pan is a person of interest in Yale graduate student Kevin Jiang s January 6 shooting death in New Haven, Connecticut
Pan was last seen driving with family in Duluth or Brookhaven, Georgia, on Thursday
Pan is wanted on warrants for vehicle theft and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution
Jiang proposed to his girlfriend of a year just a week before he was shot dead

Reyes said Pan is considered armed and dangerous and anyone who comes in contact with him should exercise extreme caution. Reyes said anyone who sees or comes across Pan should call the New Haven Police Department Homicide Bureau at 203-946-6304
Reyes did not explicitly tie him to the crime: I m not saying he s the shooter at this point.
Reyes said Pan was staying at the Best Western motel in North Haven and officers in that town contacted New Haven police.
The New Haven Police Department Homicide Unit is looking for Qinxuan Pan (DOB 04/16/1991). Pan was last seen at the Best Western Hotel, 201 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Last known address 193 Clifton Street, Malden MA. Pan is an MIT Graduate student.
