Edmonton Public Schools board chairwoman Trisha Estabrooks said in the release that the mark of a good leader is one that is able to navigate change well.
âThe mark of an excellent leader is the ability to navigate change, while also inspiring others around them to embrace that change,â she said. âDespite all of the change that has happened, Darrel has never wavered in keeping students at the forefront of every decision we make as a division.â
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to move online, Robertson prioritized the establishment of online resources for staff and students within five days of the suspension of in-person classes, the release noted.

Edmonton Public Schools announced Tuesday that it will be naming the new K-9 school in the southwest community of Keswick after famed Edmonton sports figure Joey Moss.
Moss, who died last year, spent decades as a locker-room attendant for Edmonton’s professional hockey and football teams, including several Stanley Cup and Grey Cup championship squads, and was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Moss, who had Down syndrome, was involved with multiple charities around the city. Joey’s Home, an assisted-living residence for people with developmental disabilities, opened in 2007.

EDMONTON – A school in Edmonton that will open next year has been named after Joey Moss, a legendary locker-room attendant for the city’s national hockey and football teams.
