NEW DELHI: The BJP has questioned senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s decision to send a cheque for Rs 1,11,111 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and has asked him not to politicise the matters of faith.
Talking to timesofindia.com, senior BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha said be it Lord Ram or any other religious figure, one should not play with the sentiments of people.
Reacting to Digvijaya Singh’s offer for donation, Jha said there should not be any controversy after the Supreme Court decided the Ramjanmabhoomi matter in favour of Ram Lalla and earmarked land in the temple’s favour.

Congress s Digvijaya Singh has contributed Rs 1.11 lakh for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya. While the Congress, ahead of the state elections in 2019, had favored what the BJP called a soft Hindutva line, Mr Singh was among the first in the party to donate for the temple.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 19 (ANI): Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Kameshwar Chaupal on Monday responded to the questions raised by MP Digvijaya Singh on the previous donations made to the temple, saying that those funds were managed by the Congress party itself. Congress party was in power at that time when a ban was imposed on Ram Mandir. All the funds were acquired by their government, and all the charge was given to the commissioner who also worked under them. Those who have handed us over the trust can open and check it, said Chaupal.
