Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes told WAPT-TV that Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Burl Cain, Hinds County Sheriff Lee Vance and Jackson Police Chief James Davis are among the speakers planned for Sunday s “Stop the Violence” march. The march is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Mississippi and Congress Streets and will end at Jackson City Hall.

(WLBT) - The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County now has a new leader. Wednesday, Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Burl Cain announced that Marc McClure had been named superintendent of CMCF. “Marc McClure has devoted his life to law enforcement, investigations, incarceration and rehabilitation,” Cain said. “He is versed in every aspect of prison administration as well as the psychology of imamates, but most importantly, he brings compassion for prisoners and wants them to have opportunities for a better life.”

(WLBT) - Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Burl Cain is launching an investigation into the death of an inmate at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility. It stems from the death of 39-year-old Ronald Frederick, who died suddenly Friday night. Frederick’s cause of death has not yet been determined as an autopsy has not been completed. Cain says an employee at the facility has been banned at the front gate, and an investigation into the response time has been started.
