Collector V. Vishnu took the COVID-19 vaccine at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
As the Collector came to the TVMCH to participate in the inauguration of Regional Cancer Centre, he took Covishield vaccine along with Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, Deepak M. Damor and District Revenue Officer A. Perumal.
In Tenkasi, Collector G.S. Sameeran and Superintendent of Police Suguna Singh took the Covishield vaccine at Tenkasi Government Hospital on Thursday.
In Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital, Collector K. Senthil Raj, Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar, Sub-Collector, Thoothukudi, Simranjeet Singh, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, Dhanapathi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Selvan took the Covishield vaccine on Thursdsay.
Enmity between two schoolboys results in the murder
Palayamkottai Taluk police have arrested five teenage boys for allegedly beating a 70-year-old man to death on Tuesday night.
The police said a 16-year-old Plus One student from Burkitmanagar had enmity with a schoolmate, and it worsened when they were playing in a public place in the village.
On Tuesday night, a group of teens went to the house of the boy and assaulted him. When the family members of the boy tried to save him from the group, the boy’s grandfather, Sarfudeen, 70, was also attacked. After brutally attacking Sarfudeen, the teens allegedly pushed him on the ground, in which he swooned, the police said.

Fisherman found murdered

Aldrin, 47, of Kooduthaazhai, a fisherman from Kooduthaazhai, was found murdered near Thisaiyanvilai on Thursday.
The police said he did not return home on Wednesday night after participating in the wedding celebrations of his cousin in the same area. Though his family and his relatives launched a search, they could not locate him. His body with injuries on the head was found lying near the Thisaiyanvilai – Idaichchivilai intersection on Thursday. The police sent the body to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a post mortem.
The police found that he was spotted at Kottappanai on Wednesday night around 7.30 p.m. Since he do not have a two-wheeler and a mobile phone, it is suspected that someone had taken him in a vehicle for consuming liquor and murdered him.

The 72nd Republic Day celebrations were held at VOC Stadium in Palayamkottai on Tuesday without any cultural event by school students and public participation due to restrictions imposed by the State Government across the State in the wake of COVID-19.
Collector V. Vishnu inspected the guard of honour after unfurling the national flag and took salute from the police, fire and rescue services personnel and home guards. He honoured 399 officials from various government departments including 109 from police, 136 from Fire and Rescue Services, 70 from revenue, 20 from municipal administration, Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital and from other departments on the occasion for their meritorious service to the public, especially during the pandemic.
