The Thiruvananthapuram Rural police, which claim to have closed in on the suspects in the Pallipuram dacoity case, say the crime was the handiwork of a “local quotation gang.”
A day after the police detained five people from nearby areas, including Mangalapuram and Perumathura, the investigation team was yet to record the arrests of the suspects. However, a senior police officer said some of the perpetrators were under custody. Based on information received during questioning, efforts were on to nab the other members of the gang that is believed to number over 10 people.

Women police officers spearheaded the functioning of 123 police stations in the State on Monday as the Kerala Police marked the International Women’s Day with novelty.
These officers assumed the responsibilities of station house officer (SHO), General Diary (GD) in-charge, ‘paraav’ and public relations officer at the stations. They were also deployed in highway patrol vehicles across the State.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government handed over Friday, the investigation of the recent self- immolation incident of a poor couple amidst their attemptto thwart an eviction drive here. The death of the couple had triggered widespread criticism against local police. Kerala DGP Loknath Behera gave necessary instructions to the Crime Branch in this regard, official sources here said.
The couple-Rajan (47) and his wife Ambili (40), natives of Nellimoodu at nearby Neyyattinkara – succumbed to burns at the government medical college hospital here after they sustained multiple organ failure Monday.

The Kerala government on Friday handed over investigation of the recent self-immolation incident of a poor couple amidst their attempt to thwart an eviction drive in Thiruvananthapuram to the Crime Branch.
State DGP Loknath Behera gave necessary instructions to the Crime Branch in this regard, official sources told PTI.
