In a lengthy interview with the hosts of a Florida-based morning show, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy addressed a wide range of issues relating to the resumption of sailings out of U.S. ports.

This Week in South Florida broadcast to reiterate the importance of cruising being allowed to resume from ports such as those in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Jacksonville. When asked if she believed the Centers for Disease Control was dragging its feet, the exec stopped just short of saying that was the case.

Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corp., the parent company to Carnival Cruise Line, on a company earnings call Wednesday said that while the cruise company would prefer to port stateside, “if we re unable to sail obviously, we will consider home porting elsewhere.
His comment came after Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy s said the line may be forced to pull the line s vessels from their U.S. homeports if the agency continues to prevent the restart of domestic cruising and is extending the suspension of U.S. operations through the end of June.

MIAMI, Fla. â Carnival Cruise Line announced Friday that itâs extending its pause on U.S. departures through April 30.
Additionally, the cruise line said itâs canceling Australian operations through May 19 and it has canceled the European itineraries for Carnival Legend, which were set to begin in May and last through Oct. 31.
The company has also moved the start date for Mardi Gras from Port Canaveral, with the first cruise now set for May 29.

Carnival said customers booked on the now-canceled cruises are being notified directly of the cancellations and their options for a future cruise credit and onboard credit package, or a full refund.
Carnival also announced a series of other cancellations for later in 2021 on five of its ships. Those cancellations include Carnival Liberty sailings from Port Canaveral from Sept. 17 to Oct. 18, which will accommodate rescheduled dry dock work for the ship.
The Carnival Mardi Gras the cruise line’s newest and largest ship is scheduled to begin sailing out of Port Canaveral on April 24, offering seven-night cruises to the Caribbean. Pre-pandemic, the Mardi Gras had been scheduled to start sailing from Port Canaveral in October.
