Poll: Do you use your smartphone s always-on display feature?

Credit: Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority One of the all-time great smartphone features has to be the always-on display, giving you information on your screen without having to touch the phone. It’s no wonder many manufacturers have added this feature to their Android skins. Nokia phones were among the first to offer always-on display functionality back in 2009/2010, with the firm’s Symbian and Windows Phone devices grabbing it. Since then, we’ve seen the likes of LG, Samsung, OnePlus, and loads of other OEMs adopt the feature. Is this something you use though? That’s the question we’re asking in our poll today. Let us know by answering below and leaving a comment!

Can companies stop with the tacky branding on the back of their phones?

Credit: Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority Smartphone designs have come a long way in just over a decade, with full-screen displays, glass or high quality plastic backs, and metal frames being a fixture on today’s high-end devices. We’ve even seen great designs from budget devices, such as the Poco M3, Pixel 4a, and Oppo Reno 5 Pro. But there has been one unpleasant design trend in recent times, and that’s the move by some companies to add garish branding across the back of their phones. No, we don’t mean simply having the company name on the lower rear of the phone, but rather the name or slogans running almost all the way across the back of the device. Or simply making the branding so prominent that it becomes the dominant design feature.

OnePlus 8 Pro long-term review: Is it still worth buying one year later?

It seems crazy to think about, but 2020’s OnePlus 8 Pro was only the third Pro-level device from OnePlus. It might seem like the company’s been playing the flagship game for ages, but that’s really not the case. With that in mind, you might be wondering how the phone has held up over the past year. That’s what this OnePlus 8 Pro long-term review is all about! When the phone launched in April last year, it was at the top of its class in many ways. Now, with the existence of the OnePlus 9 Pro as well as some sizable competition from Samsung and Xiaomi the OnePlus 8 Pro isn’t as much of a powerhouse as it once was. Still, that doesn’t mean the phone can’t hold its own.
