GALESVILLE, Wis. (KWNO)-K-9 Luke with the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office was a busy boy during a weekend crackdown initiative last month.
Authorities say Luke sniffed out suspected drugs in three of 40 traffic stops back on April 23. It got started at 2:47 p.m. when officers say Luke alerted them to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle of 34-year-old Kayla M. Rach of La Crosse. A search of the vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
At 5:27 p.m., authorities say Luke sniffed out suspected marijuana hidden in the vehicle of a Columbia Heights man. Officers arrested 33-year-old Nicholas E. Zumberge on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Driver injured in two-vehicle crash in Town of Trempealeau

TOWN OF TREMPEALEAU, Wis. (WKBT) The driver of a four-door sedan was injured in a collision with a commercial box truck early Monday at State Road 93 and State Road 54/35, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office.
Both drivers thought they had the right-of-way to enter the intersection when the accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m., according to a news release.
Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance transported the sedan driver to a hospital, the release said.
The drivers’ names were not released, and the investigation is continuing, the sheriff’s office said.
