Telecompaper Broadband Open Fiber to bring gigabit FTTH to Modica in EUR 6 mln rollout Friday 7 May 2021 | 14:50 CET | News Italian wholesale operator Open Fiber said it has signed an agreement with Modica town council to bring FTTH broadband to the Sicilian locality. Under the project, a total of around 17,000 homes and offices in the town will eventually be able to sign up to FTTH connections at download speeds of up to 1Gbps and latencies of less than 5 milliseconds following a total investment of EUR 6 million. A total of 10 kilometres of cable will be rolled out and Open Fiber expects to complete the work in around 18 months.
